Front of House Staff  

Axis Theatre

  

Overview: Axis Ballymun is a centre for excellence with community at its heart, a venue and a resource for the community and its city. Axis is a hub of creative activity for arts professionals and community alike. Axis is looking to hire a panel of Front of House/Box Office and Bar Staff on an ad-hoc contract basis to support the team in delivering a range of community, creative and arts events to the Ballymun community. These roles would be suited to people seeking casual work shifts that can fit flexibly around other commitments.   

  

Location: Main Street, Ballymun  

  

Reports to: The Front of House Manager   

  

Summary of Role  

Front of House staff are responsible for ensuring all clients, patrons, and members of the public have a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience by providing a reliable, customer focused and effective front of house service to the venue. It will be your duty to ensure that each event runs professionally and seamlessly across all departments. Particular attention is required for security, health and safety checks as well as customer service. Training will be provided specific to the role description below.   

  

  Front of House  

  • Liaise with box office and duty technicians on event days to ensure each event runs smoothly.  

  • Meet and greet clients, ensuring they are happy with the space. Communicate any changes to the team on site.  

  • Ensure fire safety checks are complete and the venue is clean and ready for patrons’ arrival ahead of each event.  

  • Ensure event goes up on time at start and after interval in liaison with the presenting company.  

  • Ensure the company Child Protection Policy is fully adhered to at all times.  

  • To complete and file show reports using the templates provided.   

  • In case of accidents, ensure relevant report templates have been completed.  

  • Carry out any other tasks which may be reasonably required by the Front of House Manager.  

As part of this role, you may also be required to work Box Office & Bar. Training will be provided.  

  

Box Office  

  • Process phone, online and in-person ticket sales and queries using Ticketsolve.   

  • Maintain the back end of Ticketsolve, updating shows, ticketing and mailing list signups.  

  • Provide a high standard of professional customer service.  

  • Be knowledgeable about upcoming events, to inform patrons and make recommendations.   

  • Manage sales, end of shift reconciling reports, event information, and any administration/tasks related to Box Office or Front of House that may be reasonably required.  

  

Personal Specification:  

  • Ability to drive excellent customer care.  

  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude.  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of self-motivation.  

  • High level of attention to detail.  

  • Ability to ensure the smooth running of operations.  

  • They must be team players and flexible in their work approach.  

  • Have the ability to multitask, working well in a high pressured, fast paced working environment.  

  • Excellent communication and time keeping skills  

  • Must be available to work evenings and occasional daytime work  

  • Knowledge of Ticketsolve system a benefit, but not required  

This contract will be AD-HOC hours  

  

AD-HOC HOURS OF WORK  

Work will be offered to you on an "ad hoc" basis as and when there is work to be done, and as necessitated by the needs of the business. You are not guaranteed continuous work and we are under no obligations to offer you further engagements or re-engagement. You are free to accept or decline such offers of work. You will receive appropriate [paid/unpaid] breaks depending on the length of your shift and in accordance with the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997.
